Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.
For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.
A great compromise would be to set the volume level to 25% or so... that soft audio will let the user know it's working, but not impact other people in proximity. We've been wanting this for a long time!
Thanks for the additional information. We are moving this back to "Future Consideration." We had originally assessed this based on an embedded use case, where videos would auto-play with sound when embedded in a blog or wiki. We agree that when opening a video in the Files viewer, the user would likely only be doing that to actually watch the video, and therefore would expect the volume to be on.
Could you please give a reason for this decision? To play EVERY movie without sound again and again is so annoying! It takes a long until some users recognize it as a setting. Most of them consider this as - again - a bad behaviour or even defect in Connections and stop watching movies at all on this platform. It should not be wiped away as it is a severe bad UX you give here - and video as a medium is getting more and more important!
