HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.

Files in a folder shared with a community don't show up when looking at the community files

Under the All Community Files view in a community, you see all files that are either uploaded as community files or shared with that community.

However, files shared with that community because they are in a folder that was shared with that community are not shown. This is very confusing and causes inconsistencies.

Example:

  • Files DOC_A.docx & DOC_B.docx are both personal files

  • I share DOC_A.docx with COMMUNITY_Z

  • I place both DOC_A.docx & DOC_B.docx in my personal folder FOLDER_X

  • I share FOLDER_X with COMMUNITY_Z

When I go to the community and look at the community files, I only see file DOC_A.docx there. I don't see DOC_B.docx.

But, while still in the community, I click on folder FOLDER_X that is listed as a shared folder there, I see both DOC_A.docx & DOC_B.docx.

This is inconsistent and confusing to the user who doesn't even realize there is a difference here because of the sharing. After all, the files are both personal files and both are shared with the community (one directly, one through the folder). Please show all files shared through folders under the All community files view as well. Perhaps with an indicator like "Shared from folder" similar to personal files that have the indicator "Shared from files" when shared with a community directly.
