This is specifically for Connections Mobile on iOS, but the concepts may apply to Android as well.
There are a number of usability improvements needed for wikis with page hierarchies on mobile devices.
These all could potentially be resolved if presenting the pages in a more consumable hierarchy (similar to how pages are presented via the web browser).
Usability issue 1 - Unclear presentation of pages with subpages. Title vs. arrow.
Pages with subpages display as
Title >
Where clicking "Title" takes you to the page itself, and clicking the ">" icon takes you to subpages. This isn't always clear to end users, and the user may click the title expecting to see subpages.
Usability issue 2 - No way to navigate hierarchy from within a page
Once you access the page contents directly, you can't access child or peer pages directly. There is no visible tree and no breadcrumb displayed other than clicking "Wiki" which takes you back to the parent.
Usability issue 3 - Accessing page from search or latest update
After accessing result, can only go back in browsing history, but can't go up
Can't go back to parent or open a sibling page in the same wiki
Enhancing user experience, the improved navigation for Wikis on mobile devices is a game-changer. With seamless access to information, users can effortlessly explore diverse topics. This update ensures a more intuitive and efficient browsing experience, making knowledge acquisition a breeze.
