HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.

what do the share options when uploading a file in Connections mean?

In connections, when uploading a file you are presented with options to share

Share with:

  • No One

  • People or Communities

  • Everyone in my organization

A users may choose "Everyone in my organization", thinking that they are only sharing the file(s) within their organization.

Files uploaded and shared with "Everyone in my organization" selected are actually shared publicly and will even appear in a google search.

There should be some type of WARNING or NOTE implemented to alert the user that choosing this option means the file can be access by someone that is not logged in.

The desktop plugin client has such a warning when sharing a file.

To clarify, this should not be true:
"Files uploaded and shared with "Everyone in my organization" selected are actually shared publicly and will even appear in a google search."
Sharing withing org does not share publicly to the internet. Is the desktop plugin providing a message that suggests it is? If this is the case, the message in the plugin should be addressed.
