1. Summary of Request
We are requesting native support for German language emoji searches within the TinyMCE editor in HCL Connections. Currently, users are unable to search for emojis using German terminology, which limits usability for our German-speaking user base.
2. The Problem
There is a known limitation in the current TinyMCE implementation where the emoji search functionality only recognizes English search terms. When German-speaking users attempt to find an emoji using their native language, the search returns no results. This disrupts the user experience and forces users to either guess the English translation or scroll manually through the entire emoji library.
3. Proposed Solution & Requirements
We require a native feature update from HCL/TinyMCE that fully supports German language indexing for the emoji search tool.
Note on Workarounds: Implementing and maintaining a custom emoji database or local language pack as a workaround has been evaluated and deemed unsustainable. We specifically need this integrated as a core, native capability of the editor.
4. Business Impact
User Experience: Native language support will significantly reduce friction for our German-speaking users, leading to smoother communication and higher satisfaction.
Productivity: Eliminates the wasted time users spend scrolling manually.
Maintainability: A native solution prevents the technical debt and maintenance overhead associated with managing custom, non-standard workarounds.
