HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.

I wish the richtext editor in Wiki/Forums/Blog was more extensible for...

  • Register application vendor plugins to be loaded in the CKEditor context:

    • New buttons
    • New functionalities
  • Register additional macros under the macros menu of the editor (this is currently wiki focused)
  • Attach files

    Good to see this -
Adding Textbox.io IMO should be your #1 strategic effort - it is the biggest wart on the product (without it) as Wiki is so critical to the platform - and the current editor is not competitive. Ephox is great too.

At a separate level, given that the extensibility points were synchronized in Green and Blue (CNX Cloud and on-premise, respectively), it does not make sense to have extensions for on-premise only - but not cloud. It's not efficient, and the risk is pushed downstream to the on-prem customer if they want to "move to cloud" later. Cloud becomes a "downgrade" on the wiki without this fix- so again, why so important also.

AppFusions has experience with embedding the ephox editor - if you would like assistance to get this to market sooner, we welcome the discussion and so many customers would welcome the fix!

This is available in the version of Textbox.io now available for Connections On Premises users, and we are looking to add Textbox.io to the roadmap for Connections Cloud users.
