- UserA and UserB
- UserA follows UserB
Issue with notifications around People and Community
- UserA has the following notification settings:
Content that I am following
* People: Daily
* Community: Individual
* Forum, Blogs, Wikis ...: Individual
- UserB creates a community
-> UserA receives notification by mail immediately that UserB created community (BUG ... UserA is not following the community, instead this event should be listed in daily newsletter)
- UserB adds file to community
-> UserA receives notification by mail immediately that UserB added file to community (BUG ... UserA is not following the community)
- UserB adds forum topic to community
-> UserA receives notification by mail immediately that UserB added forum topic to community (BUG ... UserA is not following the community)
This can be repeated for all applications in a community (Blog, Activity, Wikis, Bookmark).
UserA always receives immediately a notification about the event that
UserB has created some content in the community. However, UserA is not following the community.
It would be expected that these events are listed in the daily newsletter, as UserA is following UserB and has configured daily notifications for this type of following content.
For double check that it is working for other cases:
- UserB adds a status update to his profile
-> UserA receives notification as part of the daily newsletter (as expected, as UserA is following UserB)
- UserB creates standalone forum and adds forum topic
-> UserA does not receive an individual notification, instead it is listed in daily newsletter (as expected, as UserA is not following forum, but is following UserB with daily notifications)
Business impact:
Customer expects that notification settings apply for the specific content type as configured:
- Following People -- and configured DAILY newsletter => content created by people I am following should be listed in daily newsletter
- Following community -- and configured INVIDUAL newsletter => content created in community I am following should trigger individual notification/mail.
Just because I am following a person, I must not get individual notifications if this person creates a community or community content.
Especially, when I am not following this community.
Naturally, if I start to follow this community, then the rule for communities applies.
