Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. Wrong information in response/notification mail when replied to forums topic

Wrong information in response/notification mail when replied to forums topic

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Person A creates a new forums topic

2. Person B replies to Person A

3. Person A replies to Person B's reply

OBSERVED RESULTS:

In the notification/mail that is sent to Person B the following text is shown:

"Person A replied to the xyz topic thread started by you in the abc

forum"

EXPECTED RESULTS (According to Customer's point-of-view):

It should be "started by Person A" because Person A created the forum.

For this PMR, L2 thought this was a bug and so escalated to L3.

After Dev's review it was determined as working as designed. The following feedback was provided:

"...this is the correct text for that Event in the ActivityStream and Notifications - the text refers to the 'Topic thread' you have started, not the 'Topic' itself - as this is a reply directly to your posting in the Forum, it is considered a thread of the Topic that users may post replies on.

The String in question is shared between News ActivityStream and Email - so appears in your Homepage ActivityStream also."

REQUESTED FUNCTIONALITY:

Not exactly sure what can be done to change this.

Although Dev's explanation makes sense, it IS confusing for end users.

Perhaps the text could be reworded slightly so that it clearly refers to the Topic thread and not the Topic itself.

REASON FOR CHANGE:

Help enhance usability.
