HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.

Deleting folders doesn't delete files within that folder

If a folder is deleted inside a Community, the files that were contained in the folder are not deleted. Instead they are still available in the "All files" section of the Community. Only the association of the file with the folder is being deleted. Currently files have to be deleted one by one first to work around this.

For users, this behavior is not intuitive and should therefore be changed.

I think both options should be available. Users sometimes have clear reasons for deleting multiple files and the current behavior doesn't make that easy. Instead the user could be prompted when deleting a folder to indicate what he wants: Delete files with the folders or delete the folders but leave the files.

I do not agree with this. Yes, behavior is different than in Windows. But the whole file structure in Connections is flat. Think of folders as filter criterias or a 'view' of a number of files. People will get used to it. And once they are, they won't use folders anymore, but utilize the search, which is much quicker btw.
