HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.

Modify internal community allowing it to have external members

It happens frequently that users create a community and later realize that it would be useful to be able to include external members.

Currently, this flag can only be set when creating a community. I understand that this is security relevant, but at least an admin should have the possibility to change this afterwards.

Setting the flags in the database for the community, files, folders etc. manually is not a nice solution.

So please, provide a way to modify an existing private internal community so that it can have external members.

This recently happened to a customer of ours we painstakingly changed all the switches on the backend to make the communities externally available which worked, however when the environment was migrated (side by side migration) the backend DBs regressed for some unknown reason and we had to do it again so a proper solution would be a real plus.
