HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our HCL Connections page.

Allow Microsoft file round tripping from Connections interface

When a user finds an Office file from the Connections interface (either through files or communities) and then downloads that document from Connections and edits it in Office, he has to save it to his desktop and then "upload a new version".  If the user does the same thing but finds the file from Windows Explorer, he can click on the file, edit it, and then publish it from the Office ribbon.  That same experience should work regardless of where the user starts.  Some files (especially complex spreadsheets) cannot be edited from IBM DOCS.

By the way: if you edit the file with opening it from the desktop plugin, that round trip works fine!

maybe Office online would be a good first step for that.

You can round trip if you open the file from the desktop connector but you can't do that if you open the file from Connections,

Isn’t that already covered with the desktop connector?
