Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Desktopplugin branding allow special characters for "DefaultConnectName" like the "Local Folder Name" for sync

When rebranding the desktopplugin the registrykey "DefaultConnectName" doesn't allow special characters such as a ":" that is indeed a limitation from the windows explorer. But when rebranding the syncronisation "Local Folder Name" with the very same name it replaces the special character with a whitespace.

If you now setup the desktopplugin without the special character you can go into the explorer and rename the connection name to the correct branding. The folder stays untouched and the plugin works fine.

The idea here is to use the "DefaultConnectName" for the connection name and replace any special characters, for the windows explorer, with a whitespace.
The very same is already done with the "Local Folder Name" for the syncronisation.

For reference the registrykeys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Social Connectors\Settings]
"DefaultConnectName"="random:name"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\Social Connectors\Branding\Sync]
"Local Folder Name"="random:name"
